
Torquil is an Associate of the Royal Academy of Music. His variety of experience and knowledge has resulted in a set of skills which can encompass a hugely diverse range of projects and styles.
From 2004-2007 Torquil lived and worked in Los Angeles as part of Synchronicity Music Inc. During this time his music was heard on Nick & Jessica – The Newlyweds, The Osbournes and Battle for Ozzfest (all MTV); The Love Lounge (VH1); Before & Afternoon Movie (USA Network); Fox Sports Network and all 3 Fox College Sports stations. In 2005 he received a Golden Trailer nomination for best original music for a motion picture trailer for the worldwide campaign for Warner Bros’ Ocean’s Twelve. While with Synchronicity, Torquil worked with singers and songwriters including Matt Goss (string arranging), Romina Arena (orchestration) and Valentino DiLorenzo (orchestration/production). He has also collaborated on arrangements with such greats as Tom Scott and Jorge Calandrelli.
As a pianist, Torquil has recorded with countless artists, recently including Ed Sheeran and Andrea Bocelli.
Torquil has scored three feature films – Reawakening (Little Light/Rustle Up Productions), True Love (Antic Pictures) and What We Do (Skyrock Entertainment), along with numerous shorts and commercials.
Torquil has been involved with scoring inspirational short films and product launches. In 2018, he was deeply honoured to supply the music for the global launch of the groundbreaking VERSIUS robotic surgery system, developed by CMR Surgical – a game changer in the field. Torquil also proudly collaborates with PDT Global, addressing inclusion and diversity around the World.
Theatre has played an extremely important part in Torquil’s career. He has appeared as Musical Director on many productions in London’s West End, the U.S. and Asia. He was part of the original team to set up the smash hit Mamma Mia! and is currently a guest conductor for MJ, Moulin Rouge! and Tina – The Tina Turner Musical.
